Resources
There are many federal, state, and local organizations that provide support, information, and resources for Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFW) and their families. This includes United States government agencies, their related or similar Texas counterparts, various nonprofit organizations, agricultural businesses, and associations.
This Family Support Resources section provides one place to access information, tools, and resources that are readily available to support you and your family with working and living conditions.
Below are some of these resources. The list is not inclusive of all resources available. The Texas Education Agency does not promote or provide any guidance or support for these resources.
Jobs
Agricultural Recruitment System

National Farmworker Jobs Program
- Workforce information and technical assistance resources for career services and training for migrant workers.
Motivation, Education, & Training, Inc. (MET)
- The National Farmworkers Jobs Program partners with community organizations and state agencies to assist migrant workers locate jobs primarily in the agricultural field.
IDRC: Language Learning Resources
- Resources for learning the English language.
- Free career counseling, skills training, and resume preparation services for job seekers.
Texas Workforce Commission
- Assists individuals who identify as Migrant or Seasonal Farmworkers find employment and educational services.
- Learn skills such as reading, writing, math, and English; earn a high school diploma or GED; and prepare for future employment.

Migrant Labor Housing Facilities of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs
- This agency can help families locate licensed, suitable, and safe migrant labor facilities.
Legal Aid
Texas State Law Library: Find Legal Aid
- Information about where to find legal assistance.
- This organization offers legal advice, education, and representation to those who qualify, at no cost.
- The MLAP helps to enforce rights, provides information on public housing policies, education, and the general welfare of migrant workers.
Health and Human Services
Health
National Center for Farmworker Health: Migrant Health Centers
- The federal Migrant Health Program provides funds to health centers located around the country to provide health care to farmworkers and their families every year.
- This is the largest online directory of free and affordable health clinics sorted by state. Most clinics listed on this database receive federal grants, state subsidies, or are owned and operated by non-profit organizations and provide services that are either free or at a reduced rate.
Texas Health and Human Services-County Indigent Health Care Program
- Helps low-income Texas residents gain access to health care services like vaccines, medical screenings, yearly physical examinations, among other health services.
Health Resources and Services Administration: Health Center Program
- HRSA programs help assure access to quality and culturally competent comprehensive primary health care services for children in migrant and seasonal farmworker families.
Texas Health Steps (of the Texas Department of Health and Human Services)
- Provides free medical checkups and healthcare for children birth through age 20 who have Medicaid.

- Strives to enhance the financial and societal welfare of children, families, and communities.

National Alliance on Mental Illness
- NAMI Texas serves residents across the state with free mental health support, online groups, resources and education.
- Promotes mental well-being through education, advocacy, and services nationwide.
Mental Health Clinic List for Texas
- List of over 500 low-cost or sliding scale mental health clinics in Texas.
Texas Suicide Prevention Collaborative
- This site a list of resources on suicide and crisis prevention, aiming to bridge gaps in mental health support across the state.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- The SNAP program provide food benefits to low-income families to help supplement the cost of groceries.

Financial Assistance
Farm & Food Workers Relief Program
- This program offers a one-time $600 payment for lost wages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- This website allows you to search for resources in Texas by topic: food, health, housing, employment, etc. May also be accessed by dialing 2-1-1.
Texas Migratory Family Helpline
- The Texas Migratory Family Helpline can be reached by dialing the toll-free number 1-833-454-6711. Ask about assistance with school enrollment, legal aid, medical needs, housing, or transportation.
- The website may help you find reduced-cost resources for food, housing healthcare or financial assistance.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
- This IRS website offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. Visit the website to find the current qualifications.
